In late September, Adelaide will be abuzz with thousands of young people all gathered from across the country and around the globe to experience and participate in the 2018 Adelaide International Youth Film Festival (AIYFF).

We invite you to join our global celebration of youth and culture that provides an opportunity for children, teens and young adults from the ages of 5 through to 18+ to connect and grow through storytelling using film as the catalyst.

The AIYFF will  showcase an eclectic mix of local and international films created by a wave of visionary filmmakers inspiring uplifting conversations on topical issues facing youth today.

Our jam-packed event will provide the participants with opportunities to participate in workshops, social events and fun filled opening and closing parties with special celebrity appearances.

Coinciding with our theme Uplift, a special program of curated talks to ignite ideas that both challenge and inspire youth in non-traditional modes of thought from a diverse range of influencers, innovators, social campaigners, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.

The vision for the Adelaide International Film Festival came from experiences and participation at the Giffoni Festival, now in its 47th year. This iconic festival plays host to more than 3000 children, teens and young adults from more than 39 countries and attracts over 100, 000 attendees, directors, producers and movie stars annually.

By adopting this model, the Adelaide International Youth Film Festival will be the only festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

The AIYFF is also unique as the participants will be both the audience and jurors. Young people from differing backgrounds, including a special youth delegation from China, USA, Italy, South Australia and Interstate will spend several days together watching movies, debating issues from different points of views, then voting on the films for special prizes.

We strongly believe that a youth vote in selecting winning films is important to our festival philosophy that ‘youth inspires youth’.
